John is the County Solicitor for the County of Clare. John has acted on behalf of local authorities in several judicial review/injunction cases arising from planning and local government law, including environmental issues. John has been advising the Council for over twenty-five years.

John has extensive experience in handling professional negligence claims, including on behalf of accountants and solicitors. He has prosecuted as well as defended such claims.

He has represented private clients in high profile actions and in both the Moriarty and Mahon Tribunals.

John is a member of the Council of the Law Society of Ireland for over thirteen years and is a former Junior Vice President, former Chairman of the Guidance and Ethics Committee and former Chairman of the Complaints and Client Relations Committee of the Society.

Also, John lectures on professional negligence to Professional Practice Course II students for the Law Society.
