Margaret brings a wealth of experience to the firm, particularly in property law, having practised in that area for more than thirty years. She was admitted as a solicitor in 1976, educated at Trinity College, Dublin (B.A. (Mod) Legal Science; M.A.) and has served as President of the Limerick Bar Association. She currently resides in County Clare.

Margaret commenced practice in Dublin in 1976 with Reddy Charlton and McKnight. The following year she returned to her native city in Limerick to join Holmes O’Malley Sexton where in 1980 she was admitted as an equity partner and some time later became head of its property department. There she played a key role in the development of new areas of expertise leading high worth projects and contributing significantly to the growth of the firm and its expansion up to the time of her retirement from the firm in 2004. Margaret then went on to form a boutique firm, practising as a sole practitioner concentrating mainly in property law as well as private client and consultancy work. She ceased trading as a sole practitioner in 2009 and has since been retained by us as a consultant solicitor in an advisory capacity.

Margaret’s client base has ranged from private client to corporate and major institutional clients including the semi state sector, local government, the third level sector, public quoted companies, the commercial banking sector and the construction industry. She has advised on mixed use property developments including, nationwide shopping centres, multi- storey car parks, S.50 student accommodation, third level educational buildings, third level sports facilities, local authority sports facilities, crèche schemes and hotels.

Her main areas of expertise are in commercial law, the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, advising on project finance and taxation. She has distinguished experience in Landlord and Tenant law, Commercial Licensing law and the law on Local Authority rates on commercial and industrial buildings.

Margaret has also developed skills in alternative dispute resolution in civil and commercial law with particular emphasis on mediation. She is an Accredited Mediator.
