John Shaw


Specialising in the area of professional negligence claims, John has acted as both prosecutor and defence. His work also includes acting on behalf of accountants and solicitors, and he has represented many private clients in high- profile actions as well as in both the Moriarty and Mahon Tribunals.

As the County Solicitor for the County of Clare for over 30 years, John acts on behalf of local authorities in judicial review and injunction cases that arise from planning and local government law.

John is a past President of the Law Society of Ireland 2014. On the Law Society Council for over 20 years, he chaired the Future of the Law Society Task Force, reviewing the Law Society ahead of the Legal Services Regulation Act. He was also Chairman of the Guidance and Ethics Committee and Chairman of the Complaints Committee of the Society.
